Using MRI to objectively measure the masseter muscle, this study observed a measurable, statistically significant change in muscle volume after an eight-week course of facial acupuncture. Participants also reported meaningful improvements across all subjective assessment items — especially in facial contour, firmness and symmetry — alongside high personal satisfaction.

Effect of Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture on Facial Elasticity: An Open-Label, Single-Arm Pilot Study
